  1. MPS Information

Sections

Within the MPS, there are many parts to it.

MPS can be split into three primary parts:

  • Frontline Policing

  • MET Operations

  • MET Specialist Operations

Frontline Policing

Frontline policing is the primary force of the MPS. All officers are part of it, being initially trained for it. Majority of the time, frontline policing will partake in day-to-day policing to be able to provide London with a stable law enforcement.

MET Operations

MET Operations contains the majority of the divisions within MET. They complete slightly more specialist duties while retaining a large part of their Frontline Policing usage.

MET Operations is split into:

  • MO3 - Covert Operations: Responsible for undercover policing, often in unmarked vehicles and sometimes in plainclothes.

  • MO7 - Task Force: Contains specialised officers such as TSG or DSU to complete many specialist missions that require specific capabilities.

  • MO8 - Road & Transport Policing: In charge of maintaining the law on the roads, officers are specialised to handle vehicle related issues such as pursuits and traffic stops.

  • MO9 - Custody: The whole police force has to somehow deal with suspects, one they are arrested: it's up to custody to book them as well as guard them.

  • MO19 - Firearms Command: Ensuring that our officers are equipped to deal with high risk situations, MO19 provide the support necessary when crimes involve firearms.

MET Specialist Operations

Sometimes, officers will need to take their specialistions to a further degree. To the point they are no longer considered standard. These officers are some of the elite, providing the highest level of law enforcement in London.

MET Specialist Operations is split into:

  • SO15 - Counter Terrorism: Responsible for responding to the highest threats for London and the UK.

  • SO16 - Diplomatic Protection: Ensuring the safety of the highest important individuals within London and the UK.

Others

Within the MPS there are other divisions less related to frontline policing, they are more to do with supporting them in many ways.

They are:

  • Initial Policing Learning & Development - The school for MET, teaching cadets how to become carry out law enforcement.

  • Professional Standards - The internal affairs of MET, ensuring all officers are up to standard to as to cause any issues.

  • MET Control - Responsible for on-duty dispatch as well as ensuring that MET is organised during duties.

Note that these are only what CLRPC MET currently operates.
